FOIA Requests


Pursuant to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office will provide copies of public records in its custody, with the exception of exempt materials under S.C. Code §30-4-40. To assist the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office staff with the request and to better ensure a more accurate response, please be as specific as possible about the records you are requesting.

Fees may be assessed for the search, retrieval, and redaction of records, and a deposit may be required. The Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office charges the following fees as provided for under the Freedom of Information Act section 30-4-30(B):

  • Black and White Photocopies $0.15/pg
  • Color Photocopies $0.30/pg
  • CD/DVD or Replacement CD/DVD $5.00/Disc;
  • USB Drive or Replacement USB $5.00/16GB;
  • Search, retrieval, and redaction $20.00/hr.
  • Archive Retrieval Fee $42.80/file box

Payment is required in full before the public records are provided. If the request is deemed to be of a large volume, requesters will be notified and given an opportunity to narrow their request or will be required to pay a deposit of 25% in advance before the request will be fulfilled.

South Carolina Law provides that knowingly obtaining or using personal information from a public body for commercial solicitation is a crime pursuant to S.C. Code §30-2-50.
