Case Information

*These case notes are not the "official court record." Official court records can be located on the public index at https://jcmsweb.charlestoncounty.org/publicindex/ or at the Clerk of Court's office at 101 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC or ####, Moncks Corner, SC.

The Case Search feature is Solicitor Wilson's effort to provide the public with greater insight and transparency as to what happens in our county courtrooms - why plea offers are made or cases are otherwise dismissed. For the public, finding out the imposed sentence on a defendant is relatively easy. Before launching this Case Search feature, finding out what our office suggested or negotiated for a defendant's sentence was much more difficult for the public. It is important for the public to understand why we as prosecutors take the actions we take.

Giving the public easier access to our prosecutors' roles in guilty pleas will also bring greater accountability to the Solicitor's Office. The information contained in the Case Search are the work product of the prosecutors who prosecuted the matter. Until recently, our office did not have the capability to record and retain this information. Beginning January 1, 2019, we will utilize this new feature and prosecutors will be required to enter the sentence and charge recommendations they made to the Court for guilty pleas.
