Between 1993 and 1998:

General Sessions criminal convictions have increased by 18.2%.
The number of adult criminal charges disposed by the Solicitor’s Office has increased by 94%.
Despite the huge increase in caseload, the average age of pending cases in the Solicitor’s Office has increased only by 4% (or by only 10.1 days).
The South Carolina Legislature has enacted, amended or revised nearly 200 criminal offenses and penalties.
