A
Charleston County jury on Thursday convicted two men for their role in a 2007
robbery at Urban Gear on Dorchester Road in North Charleston.
Darrell
Lee Goss and Joy Mack, both 23 and both of North Charleston, were found guilty
of armed robbery, kidnapping and assault and battery with intent to kill, the
9th Circuit Solicitor's Office said.
Circuit
Judge J.C. Nicholson, of Anderson, sentenced Goss to 20 years in prison and Mack
to 22.
On June
14, 2007, five men entered the clothing store around 7:30 p.m. with guns,
including an AK-47 rifle, according to the solicitor's office.
Goss and
Mack took approximately $1,000, robbed the employees of their wallets and stole
items from the store, the office said.
Two
victims were beaten with guns and tied up at the back of the store, Solicitor
Scarlett Wilson said, adding that the wounds were not life-threatening.
Assistant
Solicitor Trip Lawton, who prosecuted the case, credited the work of crime-scene
officers with the North Charleston Police Department.
They
discovered Goss' fresh fingerprints on the door and one victim's DNA on a gun,
Lawton said.
Three
other suspects in the robbery were never identified.
