Four years ago, a young nurse
responded to a single car accident that she had just witnessed downtown
Charleston. Seconds later, her life changed forever. While running to help
someone who was possibly injured, the driver returned to his car, pulled out a
gun and began firing. The responding nurse was shot three times*another nurse
was fatally shot...as well as a police officer. After 14 surgeries, and
sometimes arriving in a wheelchair, and always with a smile on her face, this
amazing young woman volunteers for the Charleston Solicitors Office Juvenile
Arbitration Program. For the past three years, she has shared her story with
first time juvenile offenders*.giving them the perspective from a survivors
view. |
