Jury convicts man of selling cocaine

Thursday, May 14, 2009

A Charleston County jury found Keith Lamar Simmons, 22, guilty of trafficking cocaine Wednesday, and Circuit Judge Deadra Jefferson sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

The case stemmed from a Feb. 4, 2008, sting near Brigade Street and Morrison Drive, where Simmons sold 14 grams of cocaine to a confidential informant working with the Charleston Police Department, assistant solicitor Stephanie B. Linder said. The trial took almost two days.

"The officers did a great job, and I'm proud that the jury took their duty very seriously," Linder said.
