Man sentenced to prison 2nd time
Date: 12/06/2008
Hanf
Staff report

A man
accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl shortly after he'd finished
serving prison time for a similar offense was sentenced to another 10 years in
prison this week, 9th Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson reported.
Daniel
Hanf, who drew notoriety in 2006 after cutting off his electronic leg monitor
and eluding police for more than a week, was charged with another assault in May
by North Charleston police.
Hanf
pleaded guilty at the Charleston County Judicial Center.
Hanf had
been discharged from the state prison system April 15.
Shortly
after his release, Hanf was accused of attacking an incapacitated acquaintance.
She had passed out drunk, police said.
The teen
victim told police she had known Hanf for about two weeks and he would supply
her and her friends with alcohol.
Though
Hanf had been sentenced to three years in prison in connection to two other
local assaults, he was released after about four months, partially because of
the time he'd already served in the county lockup.
For the
latest charge, he was sentenced to the maximum 10 years for an assault with
intent to commit criminal sexual conduct charge, and a three-year concurrent
sentence for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Wilson said.
